Damn it! Alarm! Let’s get out of here! We head right, pry open the grates with a crowbar, and squeeze through into the cellar. It’s pitch black again… Even matches don’t help—well, we’ll just have to enjoy it some more in Covert Front 2!
In the library, there’s a hole in the bottom shelf. Slip our book right in there. On each shelf, you can click on three books with different ornaments on the front cover. We’re not interested in the wavy lines, three dots, suns, or decorative borders. But those two books with the eagle do interest us, and they’ll let us enter the secret room. There’s something unknown on a pedestal in there, so let’s grab it—it might come in handy, right? We’ll open the locked cabinet with the key and take the signet ring. Personally, I’d prefer the rest of it, but as an agent, I’m probably well-paid… So I’ll settle for just the plans on the table in the lower left corner.
In the hallway, the first door on the left leads to the kitchen. Let’s go there. Unfortunately, there’s nothing but spices, flour, and jams everywhere. No meat in sight. So at least let’s take a meat skewer from the middle drawer (it’s really there) and some matches from the fireplace. To the left of the fireplace is a makeshift opening leading down to the basement; we can see (once we turn on the light, of course) water flowing from a pipe there. Let’s go back out into the hallway. The painting on the right, featuring some sort of woman, isn’t particularly interesting, except for the background, where the clock reads 2:35.
