SpeedPlay World Soccer 3

Speedplay World Soccer 3 is a rather peculiar game. On the one hand, it combines an excellent menu with options to take throw-ins or corner kicks; on the other hand, it has absolutely terrible graphics and no halftime menu at all. Mouse controls are an interesting idea, but they could use a bit of fine-tuning. Unfortunately, an opponent’s shot equals a 100% chance of a goal in your net. Saving shots is impossible because the game switches to the goalkeeper the moment the ball leaves the player’s foot, and you don’t stand a chance of reacting even if you were Chuck Norris! Aside from this flaw, the gameplay is pretty good, though the game’s polish isn’t quite up to par. My rating: 6/10.

I liked the game. The mouse controls give even less skilled players a chance to succeed. To add to gamingmaster’s comments, I personally miss the replay feature and the fouls. On the other hand, despite all the criticisms, once a player gets used to the game, it’s actually quite playable. I’d give it at least one more point in my rating.

Great game!

Great game, but the black screen ruins it

Speedplay World Soccer is easy to control, but it has its flaws. There isn't even a break at halftime. And the country rankings are messed up—for example, Argentina doesn't even make it to the round of 16. Defense is poor and scoring goals is difficult; otherwise, throw-ins and corner kicks are well done. Overall rating: 6.5 out of 10.
